Mer Hishatak: A Story of Love, Memory, and Care

Distance may separate us from the places we hold dear, but never from the memories of those we love.

A Feeling Familiar to Those Living Far from Home

Sargis spent nearly ten years living outside Armenia. Like many Armenians abroad, he carried memories, traditions, and personal responsibilities that became harder to maintain from a distance.

One of them was visiting and caring for the graves of loved ones.

Back in Armenia, it had always felt natural: visiting the cemetery, bringing flowers, cleaning the area, spending a quiet moment remembering. But from thousands of miles away, even these simple gestures became difficult.

Sometimes Sargis asked friends or relatives to visit on his behalf. Other times, he arranged professional grave care services in Armenia.

But Sargis has always been a perfectionist.

He notices the smallest details, even those others might easily overlook.

For him, it wasn't simply about whether a grave was clean. It was about the care behind every little detail, the attention given to the surroundings, and whether everything was done with the same thoughtfulness he would have shown himself.

And sometimes, even after the work was completed, he felt that something was still missing.

Not because someone had done a poor job, but because when it comes to honoring someone we love, our expectations are deeply personal.

Ten Years Later: Returning Home

After returning to Armenia, Sargis began thinking about starting his own business. He wanted to build something meaningful, something that could genuinely help people.

One day, he found himself remembering those years abroad and the quiet concern he often felt when trying to care for his loved ones' resting places from afar.

He asked himself a simple question:

“What if I created the kind of service I would have trusted completely when I was living far from home?”

That thought gradually became Mer Hishatak — merhishatak.am.

More Than Grave Care

From the very beginning, Sargis understood that this was never just about cleaning.

Every resting place holds someone's memories. A mother, a father, a grandparent, a friend, or someone who meant the world to another person.

It isn't only about a clean headstone or tidy surroundings. It's about the respect, attention, and kindness behind every gesture.

This belief became the foundation of Mer Hishatak, a grave cleaning, maintenance, and cemetery care service in Armenia.

Our services include grave cleaning, headstone care, cemetery plot maintenance, vegetation removal, and regular visits.

We especially hope to help Armenians living abroad, as well as anyone who, for whatever reason, cannot visit their loved ones' resting places as often as they wish.

Because being far away should not mean having to worry.

Because Remembering Is Also an Act of Love

Mer Hishatak was born from something deeply personal: longing, responsibility, and the simple wish to know that a loved one's resting place is cared for.

Sargis knows what it feels like to think about a place you wish you could visit in person.

That is why Mer Hishatak is built around one simple principle: to approach every resting place with the same attention, dignity, and respect we would want for our own loved ones.
